Julia Deakin

Each of Julia Deakin’s four collections is praised by eminent UK poets including Simon Armitage, the late Anne Stevenson, Gillian Clarke and Michael Symmons Roberts. She works in both traditional and innovative new forms, often inspired by northern social and industrial history. A member of the Ted Hughes Society, the Bronte Society and NAWE, she is well known on the poetry circuit.

Widely published, Deakin’s poems have won many competitions – including the 2006 Northern Exposure Prize, the 2007 Poetry Business Pamphlet Competition, the Torriano 2011, The Lippfest 2011, the Yorkshire Open 2011, the Lightship International 2012.
